A Beast - in size and performance

This is my first LG TV, and must say, it's a pleasant surprise. My background is optical engineering - I used to design LCDs for mobile phones many years ago, so I approach this both as consumer and professional -- in both cases, expectations were exceeded. After calibrating the display, the color depth, black levels and contrast are top-notch.
Upscaling standard HD was quite good (felt better than 1080, not quite 4k), and the true 4k video quality was immersive, especially with the full array dimming.
To start, I fired up Ready Player One in 4k (okay, not the best 4k, but a favorite flick). Mainly I wanted to test the TruMotion 240/120Hz refresh. There was a slight blur if I really concentrated, but if not straining to see, wouldn't have noticed.
I then moved to Black Panther 4k (my only option with Dolby Vision/Atmos) and I'm so glad I did. What began as a 5-10 minute test became a full-movie watching experience (I was TIRED today, since I started at 11:30pm!), but OH the contrast in the dark scenes!
There are just a few nit picks:
1. I was REALLY hoping to not need my FireTV for this; however LG still does not offer the PS Vue app natively. Since we cut the cord, that service offers the best mix for us... and while Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Video are built-in, sadly a few other TV streaming service apps are not available, making it a bit clunkier for my use case. That said, the LG remote was easily trained to operate as the fire TV controller, so multiple remotes weren't needed.
To note, the integration with Google Home is a bit less polished without the native TV streaming app though. That said, I think the Alexa firmware update (summer?) will make it truly a handsfree device for my use. Until then, the voice assist on the remote works quite well as a proxy - handling Netflix, YouTube & other native apps with ease.
2. The remote: A personal thing, but the on-screen "mouse" is odd; however, my parents own an LG smart TV, and I was familiar... first time users may have a bit of an adjustment to this.
3. No #3. Those nit picks are the only improvements I can think of.
All in all, its a solid set, with amazing optical characteristics, excellent audio support -- and even decent built-in audio (for a TV), with just a few issues on the usability and app-support side. This is a solid 9.5/10 for me, and one I'd highly recommend for videophile, prosumer, or enthusiast.
I received this product at a discount price in exchange for my honest opinion.
